3M Food Safety science at the 3M Open

Food producers like you already know the importance of food safety testing. The average consumer, however, may not realize the critical role your work and our testing technology both play in helping to deliver safe, quality food.

The 3M Open PGA TOUR provided spectators a chance to learn about 3M Food Safety science.

The 3M Open PGA TOUR event, held in late July, provided an ideal opportunity to connect consumers with 3M Food Safety science. Spectators had several ways to learn about the science of food safety that helps food producers fill their tables:

  • Testing their cell phones with 3M™ Clean-Trace (ATP) technology. 3M Clean-Trace is used by food production companies to help verify the cleanliness of their facilities. But at the 3M Open, spectators tested the technology on their cell phones, learning how the same 3M science being used by brands worldwide can reveal the state of cleanliness of their cell phone.
  • Viewing a butterfly mural made of 3M™ Petrifilm™ Plates. Food companies trust 3M food safety science to help produce safer food and support efficient operations. Attendees of the 3M Open saw one of those technologies turned into art: beautiful butterfly wings made from 3M Petrifilm Plates.
  • Enjoying s’mores made with HERSHEY’s Chocolate. Some spectators who stopped by the 3M Science Hub grabbed a small gift bag with s’mores ingredients. Watch the short video below to appreciate one of our favorite summer treats produced by some of the world’s top food brands:

If you didn’t make it to the 2021 3M Open, we hope to see you at next year’s event.
